Call to Order The meeting of the Southern Tier Regional EMS Council was called to order at 7PM by Bob Rajsky, Chairperson. None
Correspondence and announcements The Department of Health Enforcement Notices were read: Other correspondence/announcements: None.
Approval of meeting minutes The minutes of the January 2008 meeting were approved on a motion by Ms. Gressel, seconded by Mr. Blitz. None
REPORTS    
SEMAC/SEMSCo SEMAC and SEMSCo met in January. Dr. Huffner reported that Southern Tier protocols on Nausea & Vomiting and Altered Mental Status were approved. All of the Southern Tier Protocols have been approved. None
Training Committee Did not meet this month. None
Systems Committee Did not meet. However, SEMSCo has issued new standards for CLI Pre-screening: students are now allowed one retest on a failed station. None
Public Relations Reviewed delegated tasks. Wall of Honor: nominations submitted should include a resume; committee will review and research and forward recommendations to Council for final approval. A scrapbook is being planned, members are encouraged to submit EMS information. A "public information" section on the website is recommended, for information such as AEDs in the home, and Heart Association stroke information. EMS Week for 2008 is May 18-24. None
STREMAC
  • AED renewals: Golden Glow Fire Department and Cohocton Ambulance. ALS renewals: Woodhull Ambulance ILS and Rural/Metro Corning. Approved on a motion by Dr. Huffner, seconded by Mr. Sprague.
  • Watkins Glen Fire Department Albuterol application - STREMAC requested clarification on peak flow meter training. Motion to approve application pending stipulations (Huffner/Sweely) approved with one abstention.
  • Cyanide Toxicity protocol: the cheaper kits do not contain hydroxycobalamine.
  • BLS being bumped by hospitals: services running into this or any other problem are encouraged to submit specifics (date, time, PCR #, etc.) as soon as possible to STREMAC.

Quality Improvement Goals for 2008 reviewed and approved, can be found on the QI web page. The pediatric study has been discontinued and a stroke study added. The recipients of the QIPP Award were read. None
Executive Committee Did not meet. None
Critical Incident Stress Management Planning a local training program in May or June for new members. None
Other Business STREMS representative to SEMAC is Dr. Huffner, and to SEMSCo is Don Duvall. We need to elect an alternate for Don to SEMSCo. After discussion, Jim Kintz was nominated (Duvall/Teeter) and elected.

Members were asked, around the table for any comments or information. Mr. Bennett reminded the BLS Committee of a brief meeting. Mr. Smith discussed the 155.340 interference from Towanda Hospital, which is now interfering with Elmira Police Department. Towanda County holds the license for that frequency and will contact Mr. Smith. Mr. Sprague and Mr. Lewis discussed the dispatch changes for Rural Metro.
